Who we are
About Us
We are McKean Associates Ltd trading as Mckean First Aid and It is our strong belief that everyone should have some form of first aid training. That is why we provide a range of training options to suit everyone’s individual needs and budget.
Our Approach
Our aim is to provide professional, affordable and bespoke services that engage, inspire and support. That is why our courses are led by experienced instructors who provide personalised instruction and feedback to each learner.

Meet the team
Lisa McKean - Director & Lead First Aid Instructor
Lisa McKean is the director and lead first aid instructor at Mckean First Aid. Lisa is also an early years consultant, teacher and assessor. She has taught in further education for over fifteen years and has a wealth of knowledge in both the education and healthcare sectors. Having qualified as a midwife, she has also worked in other healthcare roles including care of the elderly and dental nursing. Lisa now splits her time between delivering first aid training and her early years consultancy role.

Activity First Aid - FAA Level 3 Award - 2-Day
This 2 day (12 hr) Activity First Aid course is designed for those who work in outdoor environments or have an interest in outdoor activities. A range of subjects are covered, which include: Resuscitation, Angina, Heart attacks, Choking, Dealing with an unresponsive casualty, Minor injuries, Seizures, Bleeding, Shock, Fractures, Head Injuries, Asthma, Drowning, Diabetes, Burns, Electrocution and more. Basic Life Support - FAA Level 2 - 3 hours
The Basic Life Support course teaches the skills and knowledge needed in order to act in an emergency situation until medical assistance arrives. The qualification is delivered in line with the Resuscitation Council (UK) Guidelines. A range of subjects are covered which include: Resuscitation, Safe use of an Automated External Defibrillator (AED), Primary Survey, Recovery position, Choking and more. Basic Life Support & Safe Use of an Automated External Defibrillator - FAA Level 2 Award - 4 hours
This Basic Life Support course also includes the safe use of an automated external defibrillator. Additionally, it covers CPR, dealing with minor injuries, responding to an unresponsive casualty and more. Certification is valid for 3 years. Please get in touch for more information.
Defibrillation - FAA Level 2 Award (CPR & AED skills) 1-day
The Level 2 Defibrillation award is a one day course which enables those with a suitable first aid qualification to use a defibrillator competently and with confidence. This course also refreshes attendees knowledge of some of the basic first aid skills. Certification is valid for 3 years. Please get in touch for more information.
Defibrillation Annual Refresher - Half Day
In order for those with the Level 2 Defibrillation award to continue to hold the qualification, they must complete this annual update course which goes through the practical use of the defibrillator again using different scenario training. Basic life support procedures, including CPR are also included. Please get in touch for more information.
Emergency First Aid at Work - FAA Level 3 Award - 1 day
This one day Emergency First Aid at Work course covers the responsibilities of the first aider, assessing the situation, resuscitation, choking, controlling bleeding, dealing with shock and minor injuries, as well as responding to an unresponsive casualty and more. This course is compliant with the Health & Safety Executive code of Practice. Certification is valid for 3 years. Please get in touch for more information.
First Aid at Work - FAA Level 3 - 3 day
The three day Emergency First Aid at Work course is Ofqual approved and covers all aspects of basic life support including CPR, controlling bleeding, dealing with unconsciousness, choking and head injuries. As well as sprains and strains and a vast range of conditions that present in the workplace. Certification is valid for 3 years. Please get in touch for more information.
Immediate Management of Anaphylaxis - FAA Level 3 Award - 1 day
The Immediate Management of Anaphylaxis course supports qualified first aiders and emergency first aiders to recognise and treat anaphylaxis safely and effectively. The course also covers the safe use of auto injectors. Certification is valid for 3 years. Please get in touch for more information.
Paediatric Emergency First Aid - FAA Level 3 - 1 day
This one-day (6 hour) paediatric first aid course has been designed for those who have an interest in child and baby basic life support, including parents, guardians and family members. This course covers life-threatening conditions including CPR, controlling bleeding, choking and more. Certification is valid for 3 years. Please get in touch for more information.
Paediatric First Aid - FAA Level 3 - 2 day
The two-day (12 hour) Paediatric First Aid course meets the requirements for first aid training as detailed in the Department for Education’s Statutory Framework for the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS). It has been developed for those who are working with children and infants. The qualification will help the learner to attain the knowledge and practical competence required to deal with a range of paediatric first aid situations, including CPR, bleeding control, choking and more. Annual Refresher Training
If you or your staff already hold a current regulated First-Aid qualification, it is recommended by the Health and Safety Executive that Annual Refresher Training is undertaken each year. Refresher training helps first-aiders to keep up to date with any legislative changes, refresh their knowledge base and practice important skills, such as CPR, choking, managing anaphylaxis or using a defibrillator etc. Annual refresher training is a great way to review and reinforce knowledge and skills previously learnt. Attendees will receive an attendance certificate.
Taster Sessions
Not sure which first aid qualification is right for you or your business? Our taster sessions provide you with an opportunity to experience some of the key topics covered in regulated qualifications to help you decide which course suits your needs best. Attendees will receive an attendance certificate.
Parent, Carer and Family Mini First Aid Sessions
McKean First Aid provide informative and fun mini first aid sessions for parents, carers and families. So if you are new or expectant parents, have young children at home and are concerned about minor injuries or more serious situations like choking, or perhaps you are a carer looking after a relative, we can help. Maybe you just want the whole family to learn some basic first aid skills. Whatever your needs are, we can tailor first aid sessions to meet them.
